Get to know Me
Hey! This is Dylan
Dylan Copeland is a sports and portrait photographer based in the Midwest. Blending artistic training with real–world athletic coverage, he creates images that feel dynamic, honest, and intentional. He currently photographs for DePauw University Athletics and takes on freelance work ranging from senior portraits to landscape photography to creative studio shoots.
Why I do this
I do this because photography helps me slow down and pay attention. It lets me catch moments that would disappear otherwise—the split-second emotion in an athlete’s face, or the quiet confidence in a portrait. I shoot because it makes me feel connected to people and the world in a way nothing else does.
How I work
My approach is simple: communicate clearly, prepare well, and create in the moment. I show up early, plan for lighting and angles, and stay flexible when things change. During shoots, I focus on making people feel comfortable and keeping the energy relaxed while still staying efficient. In editing, I aim for clean, natural images that stay true to the moment.
Fun Facts about me
I can identify good light faster than I can decide what to eat for dinner.
